On Monday, May 18th, a new hallway was opened marking another sign of construction accomplishment. This new hallway is located at the ends of the foreign language and math hallway connecting the two and alleviating the year long problem of the congested social studies hallway.

Unlike the old hallway that used to be there, the new hallway has smaller hallways adjoining it that have new classrooms and lockers in the main hallway. Many students had to move to those new lockers because of the new projects started by construction. There are also stairs in the new hallway that lead to the science hallway.

Most of the classes in the new hallway are foreign language classes, with some of the math classes moving to where the foreign language classes used to be. Although this could have caused a lot of confusion, so far everything seems to be going smoothly.

“The new room’s beautiful! It’s bright and clean. It’s got a lot of storage room. I love it! I couldn’t be happier,” Spanish teacher Barbara Dunn, who moved to room 200B said.

Most teachers seem to feel the same way that Dunn feels. A couple of issues with the rooms include that the A/V is not yet hooked up and some rooms do not have windows. This brought some questions about whether teachers should have waited until next year to move into the new rooms when everything is complete.

“I like it (the new room). It’s nice. Roomy. Everything worked out great. It’s nice to move now so we don’t have to do it next year. It will all be ready to go,” said Spanish teacher Jill McGrath.

Construction’s next project is to destroy and rebuild half of the math hallway, with different stairways and hallways blocked off, forcing students to re-do their path of travel. But with the new hallway, it’s not too difficult.
