My senior goodbye is something that I have been looking forward to writing ever since I joined the Clarion staff. Now that it is my turn I’m at a loss of words, which is something that usually does not happen to me. I’ve been awaiting graduation for quite some time, but now that it is here it feels very bittersweet.
Being Editor-in-Chief has been an amazing experience. This year, without a doubt, was a transitional year. We went into this year not knowing what would happen with the website. It was a change for all of us; there was no “seniority” like there normally is. Considering this change in routine, I think that we did a phenomenal job. Even with all of this into consideration, I still wish I had more time as Editor-in-Chief. This year went by much faster than I expected.
There have been many wonderful moments in the Clarion room. Our bonding sessions of Cranium always end up interesting. (Eddie…Larry) Over the three years that I have been on staff, there have been some extremely entertaining fights. Some of my personal favorites include the prom argument last year, the fights over layout (sparked by Evan), and anything to do with Lorenzo.
Evan Munch and Lorenzo Cordova are two people, although they have graduated, that I will never forget. They each had something valuable but extremely different to offer to us. I still have Evan’s Christmas cards to me stashed away and they always bring a smile to my face when I read them. Lorenzo always added the needed humor to a day. He has always had faith in me, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Mr. Mancoff, I’m so glad that I have been able to have you all four years. Honors English 9 was an experience that will not be forgotten. Forced choices continue to be one of my favorite classroom memories. I don’t think I would have been able to watch Pleasantville and learn something relevant from it in any other class besides yours. Most of all, you help me gain the confidence that I needed.
To The Dream Team: I love you guys. (Skiba, Jordan, Wee.) The four of us have made a great team over the past three years.
Many amazing people have crossed my path during these last four years. I would like to thank all of my teachers; you have all had something different to offer to me. I’m grateful to have been able to develop relationships with teachers that I did not have in the classroom. Thank you for always pushing me and being there to support me.
To all my dear friends: I don’t think any other group of friends is quite like ours and I wouldn’t change that for the world. Every single one of you means the world to me. Even though we will be apart next year, I hope we all remain close in our hearts. I’m lucky enough that some people have walked into my life and made me a better person.
My biggest thanks go out to my family. I have amazing parents that have always been extremely supportive and proud of me. Grandma Theresa, thank you for reading our paper thoroughly every time I give it to you.
Next year’s staff, I have faith in you guys! Please make everything even more fabulous. You have big shoes to fill. Just kidding!! Well, kind of…
