MRSA hits RB again

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
●Student contracted MRSA before Spring Break
●Nurse was notified by students doctor
●Student has returned to school

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or the MRSA Infection, which hit RB a few times last year struck again right before Spring Break.

According to an e-mail sent out by superintendent/Principal Jack Baldermann immediately before Spring Break, the doctor of an RB student called the school nurse to inform the school that the student had the MRSA infection.

The timing before vacation allowed school administration to consult with health officials and thoroughly clean all classrooms and public where the students have been.

Although it is unknown whether or not the student caught the infection at RB, they weren’t taking any chances.

By the end of Spring Break, health officials had deemed the school safe and confirmed that RB was taking all the needed measures to clean up the school according to the e-mail sent out by Baldermann.

According to Baldermann the student has safely returned to RB and that the Department of Public Health said that it was an isolated incident.
