Every year hundreds of bands play for hundreds of thousand fans in the scorching heat of a Chicago August at the concert event of the summer: Lollapalooza. Lollapalooza this year will start on August 7th and end on the 9th.
All the rumors that have been circulating the Internets about the Lollapalooza lineup where confirmed, as well as some surprises.
The Chicago Tribune broke a story about the headliners, as they got a tip from Bono when he was here for the Chicago stop on his US tour. The Tribune reported the headliners as Depeche Mode, Beastie Boys, Jane’s Addictions, and Kings of Leon. All these bands were confirmed, as well as two big surprises: Tool and The Killers.
Perry Farrell, the founder, and organizer of Lollapalloza was asked recently by Q101 whether he was upset about some of the headliners being released he responded
“Just because you know where the gold is doesn’t make you any less rich,”
Not only does Lollapalooza have some of the best headliners in recent years, some spanning from last thirty years, the sub-headliners, and minor headliners are amazing. Most notably Chicago natives Rise Against, who are expected to be one of the big shining moments. Other minor headlines are The Decemberist, TV on the Radio, Ben Harper, Arctic Monkeys, Cold War Kids, Ben Folds, and Silversun Pickups.
This year has one the better lineups in recent years, and promises to keep up with the Lollapalooza legend.
