If there’s one movie that I would recommend seeing this year it’s definitely Hannah Montana: the Movie. If you are even a marginal Hannah Montana fan, then this movie is for you.
While the Hannah Montana show on Disney channel can be a bit corny, the movie was entertaining and preached the message of being yourself and doing what you love to do. The movie primarily takes place in Tennessee where teenager and pop sensation Miley Stewart/ Hannah Montana struggles to choose between the two different worlds she knows. It was very different than any of the episodes of Hannah Montana that I’ve ever seen and Miley Cyrus’s character was much more likeable.

The movie’s director really didn’t go overboard with Cyrus’ hair and makeup when she was playing average teenager Miley Stewart. I feel that most young girls who saw this movie probably felt they could relate to her character.
All of the same characters we know and love from the show (including Oliver, Lily, Jackson and Rico) had parts in the movie, as well as some surprise stars who made an appearance. Tyra Banks, Taylor Swift and Vanessa Williams all had small roles in the movie. There was one more unexpected group of people featured in the movie not revealed in commercials. I’m not going to give the surprise away though; see the movie and find out!
As advertised in commercials, there were 12 new songs featured in the movie. I was really surprised because all of them were very good. A few of them were like the typical Hannah Montana songs that can be heard off of her previous albums, but a lot of them were different. “The Climb,” one of the main songs in the movie, was an enjoyable change from the usual upbeat pop songs Miley Cyrus performs.
I really feel girls of any age would enjoy this movie and I even saw a few boys who were dragged along by their sisters. While waiting outside the theatre on opening day with my 6 year old cousin, I heard everyone coming out of the previous show raving about how good it was. With all of the awesome new songs, the surprise characters and a plot that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, this movie is worth your while.
