The fire alarm was triggered from a smoke detector in the RBTV studio while fiming a cooking show put on by freshman George Suchy. There was no actual fire in the studio thankfully, and it was just smoke that triggered the alarm.

Suchy said, “They told me it was probably going to go off because we didn’t have any ventilation. When it actually happened everyone just laughed. I blame the three inch skinless Vienna hotdog.”

Students evacuated quickly and were back inside the building relatively fast. Assistant principal John Passarella thanked the students for their cooperation and informed students that it was not a drill.

Passarella said, “I was very impressed with the unscheduled fire evacuation, and how the students and staff exited the building. I wasn’t surprised however because the student’s and staff take these very seriously.”
