On Thursday February 12th, Best Buddies and OLAS teamed up for a Fiesta de Amor. The pre- Valentines Day party took place in the teacher’s lunch room where games were played and food was served. OLAS also introduced the Best Buddies members to some Latin dancing.
Brianna Flores the student President of OLAS and a Best Buddies member helped organize the party.
Walking tacos were a big treat prepared by OLAS for the party. Taco meat served over Fritos in a plastic bag with toppings like lettuce and salsa were enjoyed by all.
OLAS also taught the Best Buddies members some Spanish vocab. Valentines themed words and phrases like “I love you,” were some of the things taught. After the eating and dancing, Spanish bingo called la tarea was set up in the hallway for all of the buddy pairs.
The winners of Spanish bingo received a prize and the party was topped off with some ice cream out of the ice cream machine.
“Overall I think the party went really well and everyone from both clubs had a good time,” said Vice President of Best Buddies Kaitlin Conway.
