In Paris, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Moscow, and Shanghai, there is a fashion show touring. But not just an ordinary fashion show, a chocolate show! The models wear outfits made out of chocolate.
The founders of the chocolate show are Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet. They first thought of the idea of having a fashion show where the models are dressed in chocolate, and then the very first show was held in 1998, on thanksgiving weekend.
According to Douce’s statement on the official website, “Our goal is to celebrate chocolate. To foster a richer appreciation and understanding for this wonderful, magical substance. The chocolate show aims to introduce people with the many ways one can experience chocolate using all the senses!” said Douce.
Sylvie and François are promoting their show all over the world. Some places are, Peking and Shanghai in China, Geneva and Lausanne in Switzerland, and Russia. The chocolate show is the biggest event in the United States completely devoted to chocolate.
There is 40,000 square feet of chocolate that is modeled. There were 25,000 visitors in 2007, where 85% were adults and 15% were children. Also there were 65 exhibitors in 2007.
