The Riverside Brookfield School Board elected a new school board president, James Marciniak, after Larry Herbst was not nominated. Herbst had faced considerable community pressure in past months as RB's Superintendent-Principal Jack Baldermann resigned and questions about certification status for Baldermann and Assistant Principal John Passarella appeared in local papers.
Herbst is not leaving the board, just stepping down from president. He will continue to work with the other board members, which include the new members of the SWiM team, Matt Sinde, Mike Welch, and Dan Moon.
In the last board meeting, the board also decided to make David Bonnette, who has been acting as a consultant, into an interim superintendent, starting July 1st 2009. Bonnette will only work 120 days however, due to retirement benefits as he is the ex-superintendent of the middle, and grammar schools in Riverside.
