This is Best Buddies third year as a club at RB and so far it’s off to a great start. There have been three events since the beginning of the year and club members agree that they’re having a lot of fun.
Best Buddies kicked off the year by doing the Day of Service and then attending a carnival at Oak Park River Forest, all in the same day. OPRF hosted the carnival in their main gym where Best Buddies organizations from several schools played games, participated in a raffle, and enjoyed each other’s company. “It was pretty fun,” said Junior Tim Hannigan about the carnival, “We were able to play games and get to know the other buddies.”
Here at RB, the Best Buddies members got all dressed up for a night of fun and frights during the annual Best Buddies Halloween Party. Everyone dressed up in Halloween costumes that were voted on for a costume contest. It was held in the teacher’s lunchroom where pizza and soda was served and many Halloween games were played. “I liked all the Halloween games and dancing with my buddy,” said Junior Kelly Sherman.
Club members are looking forward to the many more events and new friendships they will experience this year. “The best part is being a friend to our buddy and having them know they can always rely on us,” said Sherman.
