As we are all well aware, since the start of the very first phase in April of 2007, Riverside Brookfield High School has been under construction. One portion of this large-scale renovation project was the complete remodeling of the RBTV production studio.
Some of the actual physical alterations which were implemented through the studio’s reconstruction were a new ceiling and floor as well as different schemes for lighting, heating, and air conditioning.
The classroom conditions have also greatly improved. All of the video-editing and teaching can now take place in a clean new environment, one that was specifically designed to generate a lot more working space.
Many of the changes that have been planned remain incomplete and will have to be carried over into the summer. Possibly the greatest of these changes will be the integration of a new system of wiring throughout different areas of the school.
“This system will allow for a far larger scale of event coverage,” said Gary Prokes, television production teacher, “because it eliminates the reliance on a separate cable truck.” By making areas such as the RB auditorium and gymnasiums more accessible, it allows for the actual direction of each production to take place straight from the RBTV studio.
The AV services have also been arranged to be moved from their current position to a space adjacent to the television production offices which will be used for the distribution of video-equipment.
When considering the benefits which the newly renovated studio will bring to the student producers of RB, Prokes remarked, “There is now a lot more new technology for students in TV production classes to use and gain hands-on experience from.”
