The Best Buddies program at RB was honored to receive the title of Outstanding Best Buddies Illinois Chapter for the 2008-2009 school year. The award was given at the Best Buddies block party at Uplift High School in March.
This was a big accomplishment for the Best Buddies chapter at RB which was recognized out of nearly 80 middle school, high school and college chapters in Illinois.
The club received a plaque for the award at the block party. A letter was also written to Mr. Balderman by Best Buddies program manager Matt Vail, who spoke highly of the RB chapter’s leaders, supervisors and members.
The award was based off of a vote by 4 or 5 program managers in Illinois who nominated Best Buddies chapters that had a successful year.
“It’s nice to be recognized for everything we do,” said senior Best Buddies President, Joanna Sobiech, “We now have a reputation to uphold and something to strive for next year.”
Sobiech also felt that the RB Best Buddies chapter is successful because of the close and natural buddy relationships.
“Everyone does their part and there is not a lot of help required from the Best Buddies Officers,” said Sobiech. “It’s a very cohesive unit.”
